yellow yellow green

This post is just a random mix of pictures from September....

Whatisit

One night, dma and I ventured over to the 38th street boat launch. I didn't want a perfect dock picture, so I tried to get a messy, abstracty image. This is what I came up with...

Leaves

Somewhere, sometime in the month I came across these leaves and thought they were beautiful. I am such a sucker for backlighting.

pm reunion
And, my campus ministry group had a big 'ol reunion of peer ministers. I was in charge of the photos, so, of course there was a flower frame....

My dear friend Tisa was my co-shooter, armed with my Elph... she snapped this pic of me (on the right) with my other dear friend Jillian.

Big Baker Disappointment

Ugh. dma and I drove alllllll the way up to Baker only to be met by a heap of fog at the look out. Luckily, the road up there was completely lovely.

Hey... did you hear that? Its September whizzing by... yep, that's right; I have finally wrapped up editing my September pictures...time for October 2010! heck yeah.

Midweek Freedom

I don't remember what exact day these pictures were taken, but I remember the feelings I had while I took them. I was in awe of my own freedom.

It was the middle of the week, the weather was lovely, and dma and I were looking for a quick, local shoot. We headed down to the Seattle Waterfront, hoping for some inspiration. In my adult mind, it was a logical place to go; close to home with interesting stuff around. Yet, the child in me was in awe of the place I was in... as a kid, going to the waterfront was kind of a big deal... Like, to celebrate a birthday, or for a field trip; not just some place you went to randomly on a Wednesday. I also reveled in how (somewhat) simple my life is right now. Of course, I have uber responsiblity at work, and some family things that flare up from time to time, but at the root... things are easy. No kids, no homework, no dinner to cook for someone, no soccer practice to go to, and on and on and on... I am free. As this realization sunk in, I stopped in my tracks and took a picture to remember the feeling. This Greyhound bus ended up being my subject.

Then we headed over to Alki to see what was going on over there. We stopped at the dock for a bit and found these guys fishing. I tried to discretely get some frames...

And that wraps up this quick, little post. Thanks for taking a look!

Skagit Sunset

It is kinda wierd to be editing pictures from the beginning of fall while the weather is now turning into summer. It is a little unsettling. Like wearing shoes that don't match. Or wearing a scarf in August. Or... I better stop. Anyway, these pictures were taken in mid-September up in the Skagit Valley again. This time, we went to Rasar State Park where it was rainy, rainy, rainy, then headed west to Bayview State Park for sunset. Just another lovely day!

Another round down... I am totally, totally catching up ;) Thanks so much for taking a look!!

Northern State

Back in September, DMA and I drove up to Sedro Woolley to the former campus of Northern State Hospital. What a beautiful, yet creepy place. The grounds were designed by the Olmsted Brothers, who had also designed parts of the UW campus & Volunteer Park, among many, many other places. The hospital closed down back in the 70's, and now houses the offices of Job Corps. We weren't able to get close to the old hospital building, but the grounds and the old farm are now part of a park.

Here are a few images of the grounds... I would love to go back there & walk around. It seemed quite serene.

And here are some images of the old farm....

Ok, just a few more posts from September! I h0pe to be caught up sooooooon!! Thanks for taking a look!

Almost a Dozen

Even though I have a bajillion new pics from my vacation last week, I am determined to catch up on my old ones too. These pictures were taken on a nice evening back in September last year at one of my favorite places: the Bellevue botanical garden. I thought it would be too late in the season for flowers, figuring it would be a garden full of rhodies, but, ooooh man, it was full of all kinds of little beauties!

Here are ten of my favorites...

there you go... almost a dozen. Thanks for taking a look!!
